The Juneau Empire this morning is reporting that the Juneau School Board has passed a resolution urging Gov. Sarah Palin to accept the federal education stimulus funding.

Educators from around the state are gathering to exchange ideas and devise ways to work with students, parents, and administrators to improve student achievement even as the economic crisis increases pressure on individual students and schools.

“The economic crisis not only threatens the progress we’ve made in terms of increasing our investment in our schools but is affecting the daily lives of our students and their families,” said Barb Angaiak, NEA Alaska president and middle school teacher from Bethel. “There aren’t any do-overs for a seven-year old. We’ve got to do all we can to ensure every child attends a great public school.”
