The Anchorage School District has launched a Twitter account to help notify the public about school closures. The account, located at twitter.com/asd_closures, will be updated in the event of a school-level or districtwide closure. It will supplement the methods currently used by the district to send closure notifications, which include the www.asdk12.org Web site, e-mail subscription list, ASD voice mail, ASD-TV cable channel 14 and media notifications. The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District went live this month with a new way for educators and students to communicate. Gov. Sarah Palin cut a controversial school incentive program out of her proposed education budget for this next year. The $4.8 million program is zeroed out in the budget the governor sent to legislators to approve.
