Gov. Sarah Palin cut a controversial school incentive program out of her proposed education budget for this next year.

The $4.8 million program is zeroed out in the budget the governor sent to legislators to approve.

New guide outlines required immunizations

New Alaska state regulations take effect on July 1, 2009, in terms of what immunizations all school children are required to have.

In brief, all children in public/private schools, certified preschools, and licensed child care facilities will need to be immunized against Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox) and in some cases Haemophilus influenzae type b.
