Educators inducted into Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame

A handful of educators, including Anchorage Schools District Superintendent Carol Comeau, will be part of the inaugural class inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame at 6:30 p.m. tonight (March 6) at the BP Energy Center.

The ceremony will honor 50 women who have made or are making significant contributions to shaping Alaska. The event is free and open to the public. Eight of the 13 living inductees, including Comeau, will attend the ceremony.

Chugach extension student wins Interior Alaska Spelling Bee

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner this morning reported on the Interior Alaska Spelling Bee.

About 100 top spellers from throughout the Interior’s multiple school districts participated in the four-hour event at Hering Auditorium, which was sponsored by Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

Tianna Beckley, a seventh-grade homeschooler, was the big champion.
