The Juneau Empire this morning is reporting that the Juneau School Board has passed a resolution urging Gov. Sarah Palin to accept the federal education stimulus funding. The two bonds would have given the school district nearly $100 million to renovate and repair decaying infrastructure. The American Bar Association recently reapproved the paralegal studies program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Tanana Valley Campus. ConocoPhillips will present $15,000 and 500 tote bags to an organization called “the children’s lunchbox” this week at Mountain View Elementary School. The donations will support the Just a Little Extra weekend food program. A handful of educators, including Anchorage Schools District Superintendent Carol Comeau, will be part of the inaugural class inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame at 6:30 p.m. tonight (March 6) at the BP Energy Center. The ceremony will honor 50 women who have made or are making significant contributions to shaping Alaska. The event is free and open to the public.
