Mission: Eagle Academy offers an academically challenging educational program requiring students to master Eagle Academy’s performance standards before progressing to the next level of curriculum.
Purpose: The Spalding method of teaching is the basis for instruction across curriculum in all grade levels, employing a multi-sensory approach to learning. Teaching of core subjects is given priority in scheduling and other areas of school operation. Students are placed at their appropriate instructional level for Language Arts and Math based on results of standardized tests, along with classroom grades and assessments. For all other subjects (Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, PE and Technology) students are grouped by grade level.
Rewards, incentives, effort grades, and discipline are individual, based on each student’s own behavior, participation and performance. Each family is required to fulfill a 16 hour service commitment per year
Curriculum: Language Arts instruction is based on Spalding’s The Writing Road to Reading. Saxon Math is structured in incremental learning steps, which is effective for retaining and applying mathematical concepts. The Core Knowledge History and Geography textbook series is utilized for Social Studies. Scott Foresman Science offers a combination of content and hands-on learning. Students receive one hour each of PE, Technology, Art and Music instruction weekly.
